Etsy Artist Questionnaire

This is a sort-of Etsy Artist Questionnaire I thought would be fun to fill out. It also lets me sit down and really think about what the shop means to me.

What inspired you to open an Etsy handmade shop?

I remember my boyfriend had sent me a link to a shop on Etsy. The shop owner was selling these amazing wire wrapped earring cuffs. So, I created an account on Etsy so I could begin favoriting items and purchasing amazing jewelry. I think I was on Etsy for a year before I got the idea to open my own store. I made some hair clips and just opened up shop right then and there. There wasn't much thought to it, I just loved making things and wanted to bring joy to other people.

What inspires your products?

I am mainly inspired by nature; I heavily base my designs on the ocean and the forests. I love to design using seashells and flowers. I have also grown to love wire wrapping and have made many pairs of earrings, necklaces, bracelets/anklets with that technique, though I have much to learn. I love using copper and brass the most. I think the reason is because I love that antique appearance and beautiful coloring. Plus, I'm allergic to nickel, so I stray from using metals that often contain nickel for that reason, as well. I'm also heavily inspired by other artists.

How do your products fit in with your personality?

I have always loved the ocean and the beautiful temperate forests. My designs are, in partial, inspired by nature its self, even if they aren't always directly made from nature. I like to make things that I find unique in one way or another. I personally love uniqueness above all else.

What do you enjoy making the most?

I suppose I enjoy making the earrings the most. I love wearing earrings and changing them out especially. I enjoy making unique designs, playing with different methods, and being able to finish a product that I find over all appealing.

What else would you like to create that you currently cannot?

I have a long list of things I want to create: new jewelry designs, new hair accessory designs, advanced jewelry designs... Although, something I desperately craved but never could reach was lamp working and glass melting. I wanted to design glass melted pendants and create lamp working pendants and sculptures; unfortunately, I cannot afford the machinery, not like my house can handle the watts anyway.

Does your shop fit in with your overall goal in life?

Actually, it does not. My passion is writing and my over all goal is to become a famous author. I shouldn't say famous because I personally don't want to be famous, I want my novels to be famous... Like Harry Potter famous... and "this novel changed my life" famous. I want my novels to be treasured and adored. I love writing - especially story telling - it brings me an irreplaceable joy.
